Proper Socialization does not happen by accident, it happens by having tons of fun.

Von Weider Kennels is dedicated to the breeding, training and hunting of the "Family Companion Gun Dog". A "Family Companion Gun Dog" is a well disciplined family pet that you, the foot hunter, can take to the field with confidence. Your trained dog will perform its hunting assignment with enthusiasm and skill, while demonstrating the excellent field manners that will make you proud.

Breeding

We are extremely selective in our breeding program and typically have a maximum of two litters per year. We have been breeding German Shorthaired Pointers for over 25 years. We select for breeding only dogs which will further our goal of producing elite hunting dogs with the temperament to be a great in home family companion. Our puppies have been placed in hunting homes all over the country. Please visit our Puppy page for more information.

Training

Our “board in” Gun Dog Training Program has been developed over the last 25 years and has been proven successful over and over for both pointing dogs and retrievers. The 12 week Gun Dog Program is very structured, yet flexible enough to ensure each dog achieves success. The goal of the program is to teach your animal to not only skillfully perform its hunting duties, but to do them as an obedient partner in the field (and in your home!). We also offer “Tune Up” and “Conditioning” programs. Our training programs are available to the public and we have accepted dogs from all over the United States. Please visit our Gun Dog Training page for more information.

Hunting

Upland Meadows is a 400 acre fully State of Michigan licensed ‘Members Only’ Shooting Preserve. We have multiple hunting fields prepared to enjoy the hunting of Pheasant, Chukar Partridge or Quail. We also offer great Deer and Turkey hunting opportunities to members. Membership is limited, but surprisingly affordable. Upland Meadows facilities include a Skeet Range and a stocked fishing pond. Please visit the Upland Meadows page for more information.

We have "Started Gun Dogs" available for sale HERE.

Be Careful of Fireworks!

Fireworks are fun for children and adults alike, but can be VERY scary for dogs, especially young dogs. Backyard fireworks are a common cause of gun shyness. Don’t let your dog be frightened by fireworks as you celebrate Independence Day.
